Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg started learning to code when they were in middle school. There’s no reason your students can’t start learning today. We have worked with K-12 schools to bring the Hour of Code and other fun computer programming lessons to their students. We are certified code.org instructors and can determine the best way to spend an Hour of Code with your students to make it fun, engaging, and challenging!
What an Hour of Code Can Do At Your School/Organization
For one hour, your students will get to learn the basics of computer science and programming through hands-on activities. All you need is a computer lab and one hour!
- Computer science develops problem solvers – Students learn how to assess and breakdown problems and then formulate algorithms to solve. If they don’t solve the problem the first time, so what? Figure out what went wrong and develop a plan to fix it.
- Computer science is widely recognized as the most important second language to learn – Students today are inundated with technology. Being able to positively harness its power will provide great opportunities in the future.
- Computer science skills are highly sought after in the job market – Every year there is a shortage of qualified computer programmers. Teach your students a skill that will better prepare them for the future workforce.
Did you know the Hour of Code is a movement?
The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions students in 180+ countries. Each year during Computer Science Education Week in December, thousands of locations host an Hour of Code to reach millions of students and build computer science awareness.
