We are teaming up with Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie to raise $4,000 for the middle school STEAM program. With a successful campaign, we will help raise enough money to purchase up to 10 LEGO EV3 Mindstorm robots and be able to pay for the first year of the program.
On Wednesday, July 18, the Innovation Connector hosted the Tech Summit for us, a free event for students to play with robots and learn how to code a simple WeDo robot. That event raised $610!
Why we are helping raise money
Ryan and I are both board members for Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie. This is my third year, and I’ve seen the Club grow immensely – especially in the last year under Jason Newman’s leadership. He’s developing partnerships around the community to connect experts to members of the Club. These opportunities expand the Club’s programs: academic success, healthy lifestyles, and and character & leadership.
We deeply value the Club’s value and impact on the community. Ryan and I sat down and thought of ways to help. Muncie has been good to us as we launched this venture. The parents of our students have been overwhelmingly supportive. “How cool would it be if our tight community was able to give the Club a start into offering computer science to its members?” The idea was born.
So here we are. After the Tech Summit, we started a GoFundMe. We’ve already made private donations as board members and after the Tech Summit. Here’s a chance for you to support a local organization that will go straight to a specific program that will be available for years to come.
