Why a Tech Summit to Raise Money for Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie
On Wednesday, July 18, 6-7:30 p.m., we are partnering with the Innovation Connector to invite the community to participate in a number of computer science activities in a Tech Summit. Parents and children are invited to learn more about command blocks in Minecraft, Roblox development, and try coding LEGO EV3 Mindstorm, WeDo, and Ollie robots.
The Tech Summit is to raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie middle school STEAM program. The goal is to raise $4,000 to sponsor 1 year of STEAM programming and purchase up to 10 LEGO EV3 Mindstorm robots for its members.
Ryan and I have a unique position in the community to provide computer science lessons to the children of Muncie and its surrounding counties. In addition to this effort, we are both board members to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie. We knew we wanted to help when we heard of Jason Newman’s goal to introduce more STEAM programming to its members. This is an opportunity for us, and our amazing families and students, to learn more about the Club and give back.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie STEAM
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie is committed to closing the opportunity gap in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) with innovative and creative programs. Members learn and apply the design process, basic computer science concepts and problem solving to the development and presentation of their own app ideas.
How You Can Help
You can help by registering for the Tech Summit or making a donation. We’ll also be starting a GoFundMe campaign to raise money.
